Why?

Bringing back something we’ve missed

We started this brand with the aim of bringing to the industry something that we missed. Excitement, diversity of species, focus on climate resistance and values rooted in making a contribution in the best way we can, all while remaining ourselves.

Aside from roasting high-quality Arabica, we are interested in the diversity of flavour that different species and roasting styles have to offer. And so to the table we bring things that are both old and new.

Changing the Robusta narrative

We want to introduce you to the world of specialty Canephora. For many years, this species, commonly known as Robusta, has been viewed as less tasty, inferior and of worse quality. We shift that narrative.

We believe that high-quality Canephora can and should be appreciated for its many positive attributes. We are very fortunate to have access to some of the world's best in this category. We want to be the platform for Canephora in the specialty coffee industry.

Smooth and comforting, light and delicate or completely unfamiliar

Offering both major species already brings a lot of flavour diversity. But that's not all. We like lightly roasted coffees and the elegant flavours they carry. But. We bring you flavours that are both light and heavy, delicate and bold, surprising and familiar.

To achieve that, we are widening our scope from the widely incorporated light roasts to the seldomly talked about darker roasts. The cosy flavours that for so many hold happy memories.

Questions

Coffee sold by Chunky Cherry comes from producing countries including: Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Vietnam, Indonesia, Panama, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda and many more as we are constantly evolving and tasting coffee from various origins. These coffees are most often purchased through exporters or importers and then shipped to the Netherlands where in our roastery they are assessed, roasted, assessed again, packed and shipped to you.

A roastery is a place in which green coffee is stored and machines are installed to roast coffee. In a roastery people who are called coffee roasters are working. They are the people who convert green coffee beans imported to the country into beans that can actually be ground, brewed and consumed by customers.
